Western Plains Consulting, Inc. (WPC) is a full-service consulting firm based in Bismarck, North Dakota. We have a long history of providing exceptional environmental and natural resources consulting services to clients in the private and public sectors. March 16, 2010  - BACKLUND HIRED 

Doug Backlund has joined the staff at Western Plains Consulting, Inc. as Senior Wildlife Biologist. Western Plains Consulting, Inc. is a full-service environmental and natural resources consulting firm, headquartered in Bismarck.  Mr. Backlund has 30 years of natural resources experience, including avian surveys, migratory bird banding, small mammal surveys, prairie grouse lek counts, reptile and amphibian surveys, and endangered species surveys including American burying beetle and black-footed ferret. He will continue to provide direction and guidance in these areas in South Dakota through his affiliation with Western Plains Consulting, Inc.

A native of South Dakota, Backlund was previously employed as a Wildlife Biologist with the South Dakota Natural Heritage Program, South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks.

Backlund earned a B.S. degree in wildlife biology from Black Hills State University.
